"We cannot control the wind, but we can adjust the sails." The line is painted on a building wall inside Lido Marina Village, and the Newport Beach Indy used it to open its September account of the village's tenth year since reopening. The paper credits the redevelopment, the 2016 reopening and Nobu's arrival for the comeback, and it names year-round programming as part of the plan that followed. That programming now runs on a fixed weekly schedule on the Lido Deck. Anniversary week, Thursday, Oct. 22, through Thursday, Oct. 29, shows that schedule more clearly than any other week this fall.
Ten Years Built on Something Other Than Storefronts
According to the Indy's history, the site started out in the 1950s as a cluster of waterfront bungalows. It became a boutique-and-restaurant village in the 1970s. In 1990 the tenants included Newport Holograms, a gallery showing actor Red Skelton's artwork, and Magic Island, a dinner-and-magic venue modeled on the Magic Castle. By the mid-2000s, the paper writes, shops had closed and restaurants had disappeared.
DJM Capital Partners began a redevelopment in 2013. It restored the buildings, walkways, storefronts and lighting and kept the original scale. The village reopened in 2016, and Nobu opened on the waterfront in 2017 as the anchor. Redwood West, a Newport Beach company that also owns Peninsula Village, took over ownership in 2024.
The Indy credits the second decade's plan to founder-led brands, chef-driven restaurants and year-round programming meant to keep people at the waterfront. Michelle St. Amour, the village's marketing director, told the paper that "Lido Marina Village has never been about simply leasing storefronts." The village's own events page shows what that means week to week.
The Weekly Schedule
Most visits to the village repeat on a set weekly pattern. The Lido Marina Village events calendar lists these as standing fixtures:
| Day | Time | Fixture | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wednesday | 5 to 7 p.m. | Wind Down live music, with shops open until 7 | Lido Deck |
| 2nd and 3rd Thursdays | 10 to 10:30 a.m. | Little Lido Kids Club Storytime with Lido Village Books | Lido Deck |
| Thursday, Saturday, Sunday | Noon to 3 p.m. | Live music from local performers | Lido Deck |
| Thursday | 8 to 11 p.m. | Lido Nights: signature martinis, late-night bites, a curated playlist | Lido Bottle Works |
| Fourth Friday | Noon to 5 p.m. | Fourth Fridays Vintage Market, hosted by Retro Blades | Lido Deck |
Free kids' music classes from outside groups also fill the Thursday 10:30 a.m. slot. Magic Steps Music ran one on Oct. 15, and Brella takes the slot on Oct. 22. Thursday is the fullest day of the week, with something scheduled in the morning, at midday and late at night. That matters because both anniversary bookends fall on Thursdays.
Anniversary Week, Day by Day
In the eight days from Oct. 22 to Oct. 29, the weekly fixtures sit alongside several one-time events:
- Thursday, Oct. 22. Little Lido Kids Club Music Class with Brella, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on the Lido Deck. It's free with an RSVP, and space is limited. Zach Churchill plays from noon to 3 p.m. Lido Nights runs at Lido Bottle Works from 8 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 23. Alchemy Works hosts The Gold Album and Betty & George from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with cashmere, diamonds, seasonal spritzes and autumn bites. The Fourth Fridays Vintage Market runs from noon to 5 p.m., with Churchill playing again from noon to 3. Across the way at 3300 Via Lido, The Shore's October Curated Weekend opens at 9 a.m. with pop-ups from Tess Lorenz, ba&sh, Grounded Coffee, Purpose Jewelry and Meghan Robinson, plus Method Pilates classes at 8:30 and 10 a.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 24. The Female Maker Harvest Market brings more than 30 female artists and artisans to the Lido Deck from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 10 a.m. to noon, or while supplies last, market merchants hand out treats to young children in costume. Lexi Algar plays, and the first 40 shoppers get a free fall drink from Noble Nectar. At The Shore, guided Mahjong runs from 4 to 7 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 25. Jenni Kayne hosts Shop for a Cause from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for T1D Awareness Month, giving 10% of sales to Breakthrough T1D. The Shore's curated weekend closes at 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 28. The standing Wind Down set runs from 5 to 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 29. Celebrate a Decade Dockside, 5 to 7 p.m., free and open to the community. Participating shops and restaurants host sips, treats and experiences in their stores. The boat fountain shows a film tracing the village's history from its early harbor days, with gourmet popcorn and live entertainment.
The anniversary night lands on the busiest day of the weekly schedule, and the two hours line up with the Wednesday Wind Down hours and the 7 p.m. store closing. Most of what the village has added over the past decade will be open at the same time that evening.
The Newer Names in the Mix
The current tenants show what the schedule supports. The Indy's retail list includes Aesop, Clare V., DÔEN, elysewalker, goop, Jenni Kayne, Le Labo, Serena & Lily, Shoppe Amber Interiors and Willbo. The village's dining directory lists Circle Hook, La La Land Kind Café, Lido Bottle Works, Malibu Farm, Nobu, Skål Pizza, The Sweetish Fish and Zinqué.
Some of these arrived recently. The Daily Pilot reported in March that La La Land Kind Café had opened at 3418 Via Lido, its first Orange County location. WWD covered CAMI NYC's first West Coast store at 3444 Via Lido in late August, and the brand's own store locator gives the same address. On Oct. 17, goop celebrated its first year at the village with mini facials and goop Kitchen yuzu shots. These tenants also host the events. DÔEN's holiday-collection sip and shop took place inside Alchemy Works on Oct. 15, and the Jenni Kayne fundraiser takes over the shop floor on Sunday, Oct. 25.
Brella, the early education and child care company behind the Oct. 22 music class, is a separate case. Its Newport Beach location is at 2500 West Coast Highway, outside the village, and it lists its opening only as "Fall 2026." Using the Lido Deck to introduce a business located elsewhere shows how much the deck works as a community stage.
What an Hour on Via Lido Costs
The schedule shapes the parking bill too. The village's parking page lists self-parking off Via Lido between Central Avenue and Via Oporto at $10 for the first hour, $2.50 for each additional 15 minutes, and a $50 daily maximum. At those rates, an unvalidated two-hour stay for the Oct. 29 celebration costs $20. Any store purchase or meal earns one free hour through digital validation at any tenant. Spending $250 or more at village retailers earns free all-day self-parking when you show your receipts to the attendant. Overnight parking isn't allowed, and a lost ticket costs the daily maximum. Valet, at the garage entrance and in front of Nobu on Via Oporto, costs $15 for the first hour, $5 for each additional 30 minutes, and up to $75 a day.
Boaters can skip the garage. Dock & Dine uses the lagoon directly in front of Nobu. Space is first come, first served and limited, and boats longer than 24 feet aren't accommodated.
December Uses the Same Deck
After anniversary week, the next busy stretches are at The Shore, 3300 Via Lido. A Very Shore Holiday runs Dec. 11 to 13 with Santa, coffee, seasonal treats and vendors including Cadets, UnHide, DIME Beauty, Handmade Hattie, SUNY, Bathen, Grounded Coffee and Style My Holidays. Santa photo times haven't been posted yet. The Shore Boat Parade Social follows Dec. 18 to 20, open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. It features ALV Jewels, Dore & Rose, Oli Rose, Things Between, Beech Street Swim, Coco Bloom Coffee & Hot Chocolate, Suzette's Crepes and Casa Caia.
The 118th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade runs Dec. 16 to 20. It starts around 6:30 p.m. each night and begins and ends at the tip of Lido Isle. The official 2026 route map marks Lido Marina Village as stop 51, with boats expected at about 8:46 p.m., followed by Lido Park and Lido Bridge at 8:50 and Via Lido North Genoa Beach at 8:53. On the three nights that overlap, the Social closes at 8 p.m., about 46 minutes before the boats reach the village. That leaves time for dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants. The parade's route page says shoreline viewing is free and suggests arriving early.
Village listings change often, and the dockside evening on Oct. 29 is the one date on this list that's fixed to the anniversary.
